Above you see a image fingerprint as used on Picter.
The image fingerprint
is a code that represents the visual content of your image.
The image fingerprint
allows to recognize similar images.
Similar images have similar image fingerprints.
If the image fingerprints of two images match completely this means that it is the same image. If the image fingerprints differ slightly, the visual difference of the compared images is marginal. If the image fingerprint differs a lot, it’s different images. The more the image fingerprints differ the more their visual content differs.
If you want to learn more about the technology behind the image fingerprint I recommend to read the blogpost on new features for photographers.
The value behind the image fingerprint is actually a „hash”. It is created by a special formula.
